My current physical existence   in modern Russia contains of two cultural layers: soviet shabby background and modern glossy cover, which is partly spread above the soviet material. These two physical realities are very different, but they exist parallel at the same place and same time creating post-soviet heterotopia.

In this performance, I was making a “renovation” of traditional soviet “Deer carpet”, trying to put modern “euro-style” mosaic tiles over its texture. Modern fashionable tiles covered the carpet with separated pieces, looked kitschy and represented my perception of physical Russia nowadays: modern plastic reality cannot completely hide the soviet body, which stays as a base structure behind everything.
